Dear Fellow Servant in Christ,
As pastors we are presented with numerous requests for assistance from those who
are in need and most often it seems, these very people are unknown to and not
related to our specific congregation or church family. Churches are called more
and more to be on “the front line” to meet such need. After determining the
nature and legitimacy of these request, as we must all do, how are we to
respond and in what manner?
Our church has found Unto Others to be a valuable partner in allowing us to meet
the needs of others in both a meaningful and practical way. In addition to
supporting Unto Others' programs through our mission's budget we refer those
who are in need them for the assistance an individual family may so desperately
require.
Once we have determined a family's need for help is in the area of food and
clothing, we issue a referral letter for the family to Unto Others. By doing so
our church agrees to underwrite a $30.00 client fee for this family to receive
Christian counseling and comfort as well as the material assistance of food and
clothing they need.
We know from our many experiences that these families have been warmly received
and have been provided with nearly two weeks worth of adequate food
assistance—something which we on our own could not have provided in such
abundance.
I would encourage you to support the efforts and outreach of Unto Others and
also to consider their partnering ability with your church as a practical way
for you to minister to those needful requests you receive. Unto Others has
certainly proven to be an efficient vehicle for us in stretching the usefulness
of our benevolent resources.
Feel free to call upon me at any time to either confirm or to further discuss
our church’s relationship and experience with Unto Others.
